Pantry clean-up continues and I bump into a full packet of Thomas Bagels, thinking it was one of those buy one get one free deals and I forgot to freeze the extra bag and then forgot about it. In any case they are still alive but not fresh enough to eat, so screeching halt on pantry clean-up again, and now to make some Garlic Herb Bagel chips!
- 6 bagels, mine were plain and were pre sliced which made my chips smaller than normal, they come out perfectly round when using non sliced bagels of course
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 3/4 teaspoon fine salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (not a garlic fan, skip this step)
- 1 tablespoon of Italian Seasoning (not a herb fan, use just garlic and skip this step)
Slice the bagels thin, no thicker than 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch ( 1/2 cm). Make sure all slices are equally thick so that they bake evenly. Put the bagel slices in a mixing bowl.
Mix the olive oil, garlic powder, italian seasoning and salt. Drizzle mixture over the bagel slices and use your hands to toss until the oil is evenly distributed.
Place bagel slices between in a pan in a single layer. Bake for 45 minutes, and rotate the pan ever 15 minutes, or until crisp. Remove from the oven and let the chips cool completely in the pan before transferring to a container with a tight fitting lid. Keep in airtight container for over a week. Enjoy!
Back to my pantry clean-up…….until my next find!
