Tonight we toyed with the idea of going to the movies and having a bite to eat. But then rethought the entire thing as its the holidays and everyone is out.
To that we add that fact that its Saturday night, which would mean, long lines, waiting and lots of people.
So we opted for dinner and a movie at home, not only is it cheaper but its cozier, no waiting, no lines and no people! lol
The chosen movie was ‘The Maze Runner” and I paired the movie with the below menu:
Weinerschnitzels with Potato Cakes and sautéed Broccolini
The Potato cakes were made out of leftover mashed potatoes from Xmas dinner, mixed with some sautéed onions, green onions, garlic and peppers.
My Veal cutlets for the weinershnitzels were seasoned and then put through flour, egg mix and finally coated in breadcrumbs and then pan fried in butter.
Broccolini was given a flash boil to get them a tad tender and then sautéed with garlic.
For dessert, earlier on I had macerated some leftover berries with sugar, lemon and mint so on the menu we have:
Crepes with Grand Mariner Cream and berries
Made some light crepes out of this basic batter
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup flour
- 3 tablespoons of melted butter
To the basic batter I added:
- 2 tablespoons of Grand Marnier
- 2 tablespoons of confectioners sugar
Filled them up with whipped cream with some orange essence and some of the berry mixture.
Our dinner and a movie was relaxing and delicious and the movie wasn’t a bad choice at all!
Catch you all later, till the next meal!
